Zakat

Zakat

The Islamic Center of Tucson collects and distributes Zakat to the local Muslim community in the Tucson area. Your Zakat helps cover urgent and critical financial needs facing many underprivileged brothers, sisters, and their families. On average, ICT distributed over $30,000 to Muslim families across the Tucson area. We hope to be able to provide more Zakat and help underprivileged brothers, sisters and their families get back on their feet with your generosity.

May Allah bless you! Thank you. Those who (in charity) spend their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord

What is Zakat?

“Alms are for the poor and the needy, and those employed to administer the funds for those whose hearts have been recently reconciled to the truth; for those in bondage and in debt; in the cause of Allah; and for the wayfarer. Thus is it ordained by Allah, and Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.”

(Surah 9: Verse 60, The Holy Qur’an)

Zakah is an obligatory payment on every Muslim made annually under Islamic law. Zakah’s primary purpose is to help support charitable and religious purposes. Your zakah donations help meet the demands for zakah from underprivileged brothers, sisters, and their families. At the Islamic Center of Tucson, we do not discriminate against anyone based on gender, age, maturity, or sanity.
